About the project
Rebuilt almost entirely within the retained stud framing of its four original perimeter walls, this La Jolla residence transforms a former mid-century beach house into a luminous coastal retreat organized around a courtyard, where light, materiality, and carefully framed views shape a new architectural experience.
A central courtyard organizes public living spaces and private rooms, bringing light and cross-ventilation into the home. Carefully framed openings, including a circular port window, connect the interiors to the sky and sea. Oak millwork, carved stone, and layered shading support a design shaped by its coastal setting.
