The Minnesota Council Society of American Registered Architects was founded in 1964.  J.J. Liebenberg, Minneapolis, Minnesota, was an active member of the Minnesota Council and was National President of the Society in 1972.  Upon his retirement the Council became inactive until 1981 when a group of architects revitalized it.  It remains an active part of the architectural profession in the state.

Meetings are held quarterly and normally alternate between Duluth and the twin cities but have been held in other areas also.

The Society works hand in hand with the Joint Professional Committee addressing items of interest to the building professions.

These photographs were taken at a recent gathering this April at the newly expanded Walker Art Center in downtown Minneapolis.  The group was small but we had a wonderful tour of the addition designed by Swiss Architects Herzog & deMeuron.  The expansion doubles the size of their space and lends much respect to the original building by Architect Edward Larrabee Barnes.  We had an enjoyable afternoon engaged in new gallery spaces, a new performance theater, numerous public terraces, plazas, gardens and lounges, a commissioned outdoor skyspace and two Wolfgang Puck restaurants catering to those who desire some of the best views of downtown Minneapolis.
