Celebration of Architecture and Design Award Program
Design Competition Rules - 2012
Awards of Excellence, Merit and Honor and Special Recognition are presented to members whose projects are entered in the Society's National Professional Design Award competition and are selected for meritorious design by an awards' jury of professionals in the architectural and related fields.

PURPOSE
To give professional recognition and encourage client participation in achieving excellence in design.

ELIGIBILITY
All submittals must be constructed commissioned projects which have progressed to near state of completion (with the exception of Category I).

JURY/JUDGING
The jury will consist of nationally recognized architects and scholars. Decisions of the jury shall be final. Additional recognition may be granted by the Chair of the Awards Committee.

TEAM PROJECTS
Team projects will be treated as if presented by a single firm.

DECLARATION OF INTENT
The attached Declaration of Intent must be completed and returned postmarked no later than August 1, 2012. Entry fees must accompany each project.

CATEGORIES

Housing projects of all types and sizes, including Single & Multi-Family Residences, Dormitories, Retirement Homes, etc.

Institutional Buildings, including Health Care, Educational, Government, Recreational,

Religious, Monuments, Memorials, etc.

Commercial/Office, including Retail Centers, Financial, etc.

Industrial/Manufacturing

Interior Architectural Design

Rehabilitation/Remodeling

International

Landscape Architecture

Projects in Design Phase

Non-Building, including, but not limited to, Door Hardware, Sculpture, Lighting, Furniture, etc.

SUBMISSION OF ENTRIES

Entries must be submitted in the following manner:

Submit not more than twelve (12) digital images in .jpg format with a maximum individual image size of 3MB on CD-Rom

Complete data sheets for each entry. These will be provided to you upon receipt of Declaration of Intent and will include entrant information, image descriptions and design statements.

AWARDS

Entries will be judged based on:
•  Compelling Design Statement
•  Clear Partí
•  Program Solution
•  Construction System and Details

The following awards may be issued in any category:
•  Excellence Award
•  Merit Award
•  Honor Award

Special Recognition
At the Jury's discretion, the number of awards may be limited or expanded in any category, and special awards may be designated.

Design Awards will be issued as follows:
In the name of the firm, providing the SARA member is part of the firm; or in the name of the SARA member (name of firm is optional)

Award recipients will be notified by mail within 7 days of the jury session.

PRESENTATION OF AWARDS
Certificates will be presented at the 2012 Celebration of Architecture and Design on Friday, October 12th at the Hilton Ballpark Hotel, St. Louis, Missouri. Clients are encouraged to attend along with entrants. Certificates will be presented in duplicate for the architect and client. Additional certificates are available, at the winner's request, for a nominal fee of $75.00 each.

RELEASE/PUBLICITY
All entries are accepted with the explicit free right of publication, reproduction and use by SARA and its sponsors without need for further approval. SARA shall not be responsible for protection of the submission.
